The Babe [Sep. 3rd, 2005|10:12 pm]
So I was at my parents a lot the last few weeks with all these birthdays in my family. During these days my mom loves to tell all the details around the day of my birth. It was a nice summerday and my mom was three weaks late. I guess I liked it very much to be so close to my mother. I still like to be close to her. On august the 14th she and my dad went to the hospital for a check up. The elevator there was full with people and my mom felt fine so my mom and dad took the stairs to the floor where the consulting-room was. After examining my mom the docter told my parents everything was fine with the baby so they could leave again. Again the elevator was full with people and my mom still felt fine so they took the stairs again and just when they walked through the exitdoors of the hospital a few nurses ran to my mom and dad and yelled "Mrs Pelman, Mrs Pelman!!!! The baby has to be born now. We have to get it now!" And my mom was immediatly put in a wheel chair and was taken back through the halls, to the elevator, up again and to a room where the docter already was and there she was put into a bed. The docter explained that he overlooked something during the examination. The baby (me) was out of amniotic fluid, so would not make it very long in the uterus of my mom anymore. Well fortunatly the docter was in time and my mom gave birth to a very handsome, bald and fat baby.

A few days later everyone who wanted to, could see my nowadays worldfamous smile. Here is the proof (hanging on the wall at my parents house):

Leo family [Aug. 24th, 2005|09:45 am]
August is always a weird month for my family. I told in a previous post that my birthday is august 14. My family celebrates two more birthdays in this month. My dad celebrates his on the 7th and my mom celebrates hers on the 22nd. So only my brother Chris is not a leo. He was born on february 2nd in the year 1982, which is kinda a funny date 2-2-82.

After my moms day we all are very tired of celebrating. It takes a lot of time and planning to have all these parties, but everyone deserves his or her day in the sun.

My mom and me.

Death [Aug. 7th, 2005|11:51 am]
[mood | content]
[music |Chet Baker - My Funny Valentine]

These days I wonder why so many people seem to die this summer. Fortunatly my family and friends are all ok. Don't worry about that. But last night I heard Ibrahim Ferrer died. He was the extraordinary singer of the Buena Vista Social Club. The day before yesterday mr. Cooke, former minister of the UK, died. Mister Duisenberg the former president of the ECB died last week. Marten Toonder the artist who made the comic about Tom Poes died 2 weeks ago. (Beam me up)Scotty past away this summer too. And the list is even longer than this and I am afraid more names will follow this new trend.

On the internet is a group of people who make a list of 100 famous people, who might die this year. It's a bit macabre, but also a bit funny how they make this list every year and how many 'hits' they have. 2005 seems to become a very good year for them. Already 8 people died of the list. You can see it all here http://www.deathlist.net

The Surprise [Jul. 31st, 2005|11:06 am]
[mood | cheerful]
[music |parachute - days in july]

It's only 31 of July and I already received my first birthday gift. And it's a very special gift too. This week the mailman put a small note in my mailbox on which he said there was a package for me. If I wanted to get the package I had to come to the postal office and sign for it. A whole night I had been wondering who would send me a package at this time of the year. I hadn't thought about that my birthday is coming up in 2 weeks. So I went to the postal office the next day and I signed for the package and on the outside I could already see that it was coming from Russia and that gave me a good idea about who was so nice to send me a package.

My dear friend Ivan did think about my birtday already and send me such a nice package! It was a big surprise!!!!! I want to thank you very much, my good friend! The movie is very cool and I loved the card and the map! It's very nice to see so much of Russia in the movie and the story is very good too. Thanks!

You are all very welcome to get some birthdaycake on august 14 in my little flat in the Netherlands! Let me know if you come!

and thanks again Ivan!

Will & Grace [Jul. 26th, 2005|08:23 pm]
[mood | cheerful]
[music |Rufus Wainwright - Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk]

Tonight suddenly my housemate came at home. She had be gone for a month to work in Groningen a city in the north of the Netherlands. She's such a great girl. Her sister once called us Will & Grace, because we kinda behave the same way they do. We talked and laughed about it a whole night ans still couldn't figure out, that if we are like Will & Grace, who would be the Karen and Jack live-a-likes...

Tonight we will enjoy a fabulous night togeter again, with red wine and a bad taste of humour. She will giggle a lot and I will do the same. We will talk about the men in my life... or the lack of a real nice man in my life and she will tell me all the horrors she had been through the last few weeks.

Unfortunatly she leaves again tomorrow for another few weeks and I will be left all alone in this flat... well, let us just enjoy our evening tonight.

The weather [Jul. 20th, 2005|10:38 am]
[mood | energetic]

Mymy, it's been a few days since my last post. That was mainly because the weather in the Netherlands has been so wonderful last week. I needed to spend every minute I could outside. That was so wonderful. I biked a lot and walked in the city and spend time with friends. It was very beautiful and fabulous.

Today is the first day the temperature is lower, only 19 degrees Celsius. It also rains a lot. The forcast says it will be like this the rest of the week too. We'll see. At least I get some more work done with this temperature, which is kinda good...I guess....

London [Jul. 9th, 2005|09:03 am]
[mood | sad]
[music |R.E.M. - Everybody Hurts]

the day before yesterday a tragedy happened in London. A lot of people were killed or badly injured by bomb attacks. It's horrible!

I'm very glad to be able to say that the people I know in London are all fine.

As you now probably understand I am not in London myself right now. Me and my family were about to get on the train in Brussels for the last part of our trip, when we got a phonecall with the terrible news. We got more info from some friends and relatives and the people of the trainstation adviced us to return to our homes. We couldn't get to London anymore. So....here we are again....

The Trip [Jul. 6th, 2005|05:14 pm]
[mood | excited]
[music |R.E.M. - Begin The Begin]

Well my dear boys and girls. I'm away for a few days. I'll be in the city that was chosen today to host the Olympics in 2012. Yes, I'm going to London! Besides doing a bit of sightseeing, I have another reason to go to this beautiful city. I have tickets to the R.E.M. concert in Hyde Park this saturday and I'm very much looking forward to seeing them play live again! I'll make some nice pictures for you of my trip and of course of the show (if possible), but for now! Toedeloe, byebye and cu soon!

The List [Jul. 4th, 2005|09:41 pm]
[mood | peaceful]

My dear friend Ivan (gabriel_garden) asked me if i was able to make a top 5 with favorite songs. I'm so sorry to say that I'm not able to do that. But I once made this weird list of songs that are very special to me. Who never thought about your own funeral when you die? It's kind of macabre, but I think everyone has thought about it once or twice. Well I did anyway. And I thought about which songs are really so special to me that they should be played on my funeral. Well I can tell you, it will be a long afternoon. Maybe it's better to make a rememberance cd of it and give it to the people who like me. They can listen to it at home, if they want to.

I have to say that this list changes every week. It also still grows. Well i think it's time for the list now. I think there might even be some surprises for the people who know me very well.

Here we go:

• Jeff Buckley Lilac Wine
• R.E.M. Perfect Circle
• Natalie Merchant I May Know The Word
• Placebo ft David Bowie Without You I’m Nothing
• Ramses Shaffy ‘t Is Stil in Amsterdam
• Cat Stevens Morning Has Broken
• Alanis Morrisette That I Would Be Good ( unplugged)
• Sigur Ross Vioar vel til loftarasa
• David Bowie Little Wonder
• Radiohead No Surprises
• Patti Smith About A Boy
• Jeff Buckley Lover You Should Have Come Over
• Natalie Merchant Don’t talk ( solo)
• R.E.M. Why Not Smile
• Indigo Girls History Of Us
• Roy Orbison Crying (with k.d. lang)
• Elvis Costello God Give Me Strength
• Velvet Underground I’ll Be your Mirror
• Velvet Underground Sunday Morning
• Sigur Ross Svefn-g-englar
• R.E.M. At My Most Beautiful
• Antony and the Johnsons Bird Gehrl
• Vic Chesnutt Guilty By Association
• Lou Reed Perfect Day
• Peter Gabriel Red Rain
• Rufus Wainwright Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk
• Nina Simone Here Comes The Sun
• Keith Caputo Why (live)
• Kristin Hersh Hips and Makers

Of course it would also be nice if some of my own songs would be on the cd too.

The band [Jul. 1st, 2005|02:03 pm]
I'm the singer of a rock 'n roll band. Nowadays we are a 5 piece band, but when this Tilly Pelhead adventure started, there were only three of us. Back in highschool I tried to find musicians who wanted to play one song with me on a schoolnight in our local theatre. Niels (guitar) and I already started writing songs for ourselves in those days. On this schoolnight I wanted to sing the famous song 'Summertime'. We got a band together. I think there were seven or eight musicians with me on stage and I sang probably very horrible. But we did it and 600 people applauded for us.

Gertjan played the piano during that gig and we became good friends. We all wanted to write more songs and Gertjan and Niels liked my lyrics so we decided to form a band and called ourselves Tilly Pelhead. Our first demo cd was recorded in february of the year 2000 and we released it on april 1 of the same year. Of course we had to have photographs and posters and flyers to promote our own record and our gigs. So we made some simple exemples of posters. Here's a fine exemple of one of these posters: http://www.geocities.com/tillypelhead/s1.gif
